The Gladiator

Noting that this might not come to pass again for the entire fight, you take your chances and go for it.
And it turns out that you made the right choice.
Twirling your diblade in a neat arc, you slash at Velkadin's exposed jaw and open a shallow wound just below his cheek bone. Velkadin gives a howl of rage and clutches his wound, and then stares in shock at the blood on his hands. It takes you a few moments to realize that you've won.
"I win!" you yell, twirling your diblade in jubilation. The crowd is cheering wildly at your first victory over your brother. Your brother, however, isn't so happy about it.
"It's a mere scratch!" he shouts angrily. "Dengian, I challenge you to complete this fight!"
You pause, realizing that he is challenging you to a fight until surrender. And you also know that Velkadin will never surrender. But do you really want the crowd (not to mention that girl) to think you're a coward?
