Assault of the Sorcerer Kings

At sunrise the camps were torn down and water was poured upon the hot coals of the fires.

Once everyone was mounted, Sir Gallor Penington adressed the group.

"We should reach the village of Hachis at mid afternoon. We will stop there briefly, perhaps the town will provide us with a feast if we are fortunate. But we will not stay long for we still have a long journey ahead of us. After Hachis it will be all mountain paths from there. The journey will not be easy, as I'm certain you are all aware."

Without another word he turned his mount around and started up the path. Sir Hector called for everyone to move out and the company followed their commanding officer, the mercenaries taking up the rear of the group with Sir Gnishaw Not behind them.

Somewhere along the way two of the young and unranked knights spoke briefly with Sir Hector before breaking from the pack. Gallor and Hector argued over this for some time. Nearly an hour later the pair was seen returning to the line. They came dragging a litter behind each of them, a buck and a doe on the litters.

Not long after, they reached the town of Hachis, where they were warmly welcomed by the people of the village. The slain deer would help to offset some of the food that the villagers would provide for the feast.

They ate well and drank the strong brown ales that the village's brewmeister had made. Two hours later they set off to continue their journey, hiring a guide from the village who claimed to have been to the great mouth of the mountain.

The path all but disappeared as they climbed further up, becoming more and more rough with each step until it almost vanished completely.

That night they made camp in a meadow off the side of the road, the distant howl of wolves leaving everyone on edge.

Crimson Makis glances warily up at the moon, it was waxing; nearly full. Another night and he would turn. And what would happen if the others knew him for what he had become? As of now only the great minotaur had any knowledge of his lycanthropy.

"The moon will be full tomorrow," Crimson said to the great warrior.

Gorath looked up at the moon. "You are certain?"

"Aye," Makis replied. "Tomorrow night, before the moon rises, I'm going to need to get away."

"What will I tell them?" he asked.

"I don't care what you tell them," Crimson answered, "Just don't mention the lycanthropsy."

The minotaur snorted.
