Shadowgate
Clambering away from the bloody recesses, you cough longingly.
As your legs propel you upward through the compact winding stairs, the bloodstains eventually cease all together. Feeling cramped, you off-handedly ponder just when the steps will end.
Minutes pass, and the stony passage looks as though it is closing in on you. Bursting into a run, your mind gallops in your skull as you trip into a lighted chamber.
Falling softly, your eyes adjust on the intricate green carpet sprawled out beneath you. You release a noise of joy, a sound of happiness. Staring up on your shoulder, you soak in the sideways vision of a rolling green field laced with trees and lavish white clouds.
Scrambling to your feet, you break into a steady trot through the dim half light. Torch bouncing in arm, you hardly notice the solid tree trunk bridge you are navigating. Your eyes fixated on the goal ahead, nothing can stop you now.
"Oi! Stop yer' runnin' der!"
You stop. A voice of boulders rolls through your ears.
Your surroundings suddenly snap into perspective. You find yourself positioned over an entirely empty cavern. Yet, you are unsure whether it is wholesome a cavern, or something entirely different. There are no visible walls, ceiling, or floor for that matter. You're spanned over an extremely thick and wide bridge, made entirely of tree trunks knitted together tightly with foot wide rope. The sun from the now distant gate lights the wood with twilight ambience. You swallow hard.
Head turned; your eyes greet those of a troll. Balancing its disgusting head on one watermelon sized forearm, it leers at you. Stifled with fear, you wonder what is holding it up as it seemingly floats over the abyss. You stare intently as the troll rattles the trees with rolling marble fingers.
"Well ya gonna answer me or jus' stan' der like a lemon?"
