The demon scam
Merle glares at you and sticks out her tongue. "You didn't have to come after me, I was FINE on my own!" With that, she turns and runs away.
"Merle!!" you scold and go after her. However, Naria is faster than both of you, and before Merle can get anywhere, the feline demon has her by the arm.
"Hey now," she says. "Your brother came all this way to find you. That's not very nice."
Merle frowns at Naria, taking in her ears and tail. She seems fascinated against her will and she doesn't struggle.
"There now, little one," Naria says. "We'll soon get you out of here."
"You have any ideas?" you ask.
"Well", Naria says, "Not everyone has the gift to open up portals between realms."
"I assume you can't?" you ask, and she shakes her head. "No... I know only one who can, but that won't be easy."
"Please tell me," you say.
"Well..." Naria starts, "there is a town not too far away from here. The oracle there can open portals, but I don't know how on earth we are going to fool HIM... I'm pretty sure you two won't pass as demons to him."
You think that over for a moment. "But it's our only chance, right? Let's do it."
Naria smiles. "I like your attitude."
You let Naria lead the way and soon enough you come across a town with a tall white tower in the center.
