Legend
You land a powerful strike on the troll who roars loudly but instead of falling like you thought, he lands his own hit upside your head with his club. You go sprawling to the ground, half unconscious and completely dazed.
You gather your wits just in time to see the troll hovering over you ready for the kill. You can't react in time and you briefly think that this is it.
That is until a flaming arrow pierces the eye of the troll. Followed by several more in other parts of the troll's body. It drops its club and runs while howling in pain, and trying to beat the flames from its body. Eventually it collapses and soon the various small flames turn into one big one and consume its body.
"Are you okay?" a voice asks. It's Brenda, holding a bow; you didn't even know she had skill with one.
"Yeah, thanks when did you learn how to shoot like that?"
"Hey, you weren't the only one active for a year. Obviously without a big strong adventurer around, I had to learn how to defend myself somehow." She laughs.
She helps you up and you see that the orcs have completely run off. You've won the battle!
Add 5 Alignment points for staying and defending the village.
Much fuss is made over you and how you saved the village, but you're too exhausted to enjoy any accolades you may be getting. You just want to rest from battle and Brenda takes you back to her house.
Brenda's house is not fancy, but it is obviously up kept. (And happily it seems to have missed out in being damaged by the orcs) You're guessing this is what your life would've been like had you not chosen your life of adventure.
You and Brenda talk a lot while the days pass, but the pair of you knows why you're really there and it doesn't take long for things to turn towards the physical side
Restore all your STAMINA and LUCK points. (You may also mark down the fact that you're keeping all your stuff at her house now)
A few hours later, and Brenda fall asleep after your time together. You briefly reflect on what your life could've been like had you stayed here with her.
Many people want you to stay here permanently since they feel that you'd make an excellent "mayor". You don't know though. You still aren't the bureaucratic type and you just don't see yourself in the role. However, you're still resting from the battle so you stay in the village a few more days to recover from your wounds.
The pull of wanderlust always tugs at you and you can't stay in one place for long, but that doesn't mean you need to leave right away. And as you look at Brenda sleeping beside you who knows? Perhaps you'll decide to stay after all
