When in doubt blame the gypsies
They probably didn't do it and there isn't any proof, but they have been causing enough trouble with their thievery.
You rile the Altbergers up and convince them to help you take justice out on the gypsies. Most of them were victims have had things stolen so it works and mob rule is enacted.
You all storm the gypsy caravan, which takes them by surprise as they were not expecting such a thing to occur and a lot of them are still hung over.
They might be off guard, but they aren't leaving without a fight. You engage the two nearest ones and must fight them at the same time.

If you win you'll soon see that the gypsies are abandoning their own wagons in favor of their lives. However, there's an old gypsy witch still around. She dying actually, but you can tell she's trying to chant something before she shuffles off this mortal coil.
If you're a technologist with a brimstone thrower or a wizard you can still stop her before she completes her spell. You'll succeed and the village in general will feel a greater sense of pride and unity.
If not you won't make it in time and she lays down one last curse. Not on you specifically, but rather on the whole village. There's no noticeable affect yet, but the people are going to have a sense of impending doom upon them and probably blame you for whatever bad things are going to happen in the future. Lose 2 LUCK points.
In any case you still incited a mob lynching against people who most likely didn't vandalize anything.
