The Corporate Ladder

You leap out of your chair, get behind your co-worker, put your arms around his stomach and pull back hard. A chicken bone flies out of his mouth and lands a full five feet away.

He thanks you profusely and you both go back to work.

A few weeks later, a position opens up in the marketing department. You excitedly apply, confident that the memory of your life-saving technique will earn you the marketing head's gratitude and the job.

Instead, he tells you that he couldn't have you in his department, since you would be a constant reminder that he owes you his life, and that he would be incapable of ever disciplining you.

You tell him you understand, and as you leave his office he stops you and tells you he thinks he is having a heart attack. The two of you are completely alone.
