After dispatching the goblins, you find a whopping 2 gold pieces on them. They mentioned something about not letting you in somewhere, so you assume they didn't want you entering the trapdoor in the stone floor near them. The trapdoor is closed, and very locked. The goblins didn't have a key either.

If you happen to have a jar of acid, you may burn off the lock quietly, if not you'll have to rely on more forceful means. You'll still get it open, but your actions will undoubtedly cause noise and alert whatever may be lurking down there.

Either way there's no point in turning back now and you descend into the darkness.

Unfortunately there isn't any light down here and you can only see what's immediately in front of you and even then just barely, due to this fact you'll have difficulty fighting anything you might run into down here. -2 to your attack score for all fights while down here.

If you have some sort of light source like a lantern you may proceed as normal.

With or without any light, you eventually reach a split in the corridor; you can go left or right. The right side is silent, but there is definitely noises coming from the left side.
