You only had a brief foray into the ruins before, but other than some simple undead you didn't really encounter anything too bad, at least nothing you don't think you wouldn't be up to the challenge now.

Since you're familiar with the place and know something of what to expect, you can't in good conscious not go explore it and you will not suffer any darkness penalties when you enter the ruins.
