He's the whole reason why you left Altberg in the first place. He put you through hell, literally. You're still not completely over it and you have no desire to go back to those ruins. You just can't. Not now. The memories are still too fresh. Besides, the evil there is destroyed, whatever the villager thinks he heard probably didn't come from the ruins.
