Now that you think about the subterfuge idea, it strikes you as a tad on the risky side. Too many things can go wrong at once and it's execution involved Vin putting his life at risk. That was not a risk worth taking.
Your only sensible, barely sensible, course of action would be to scale the cliffs. You walk upto Vin as he prepares his packs."I think we should go with the initial idea of scaling the cliffs. I'm not all that comfortable with the idea of trying to fool the mercenaries. Too many things could go wrong at once."
"That is true." Vin seems equally worried and restless as you are."But scaling the cliffs will be no more easier a task. We can't climb at night and if even if one of them spots us climbing, we'll be doomed."
"I still feel it would be better if we climbed."You aren't one to get discouraged so easily. You have strong arguments yourself and you aren't hesitant in putting them forward."What if you get caught? What if we both get caught in the pass?"
"We have equal chances of dying while scaling the cliff or getting caught at the other side. But since you feel comfortable with this idea, we'll go for it."
"Good. I'll go pack my essentials." You aren't particularly looking forward to the climb but you didn't come so far to go back because of some small-time mercenary. You pack what you need in your leather bag and pack some supplies in one of the smaller bags.
