Assault of the Sorcerer Kings

The Assassin

Semaj Neb was a powerful and deadly warrior. He was reputed to attack so swiftly with his blades that those who faced him saw only streaks of steel. Obviously this was a gross exaggeration and lie, since all who have faced him have perished. All save one man, that is. Sir Gnishaw Not, of the Knights of Blegan.

Neb had still been a relatively young assassin when he was caught by Sir Not. Semaj had returned to the throne room of King Kaltar, seeking his bounty for the elimenation of an old rival of Kaltars'. The king gave Neb only half of the amount agreed upon.

Neb has never been called calm or rational. It would be an understatement to say that he overreacted. Neb took the sack of gold coins and tossed it back to the king. As King Kaltar stretched out his hand to catch the gold, the assassin swung in with one of his blades and seperated Kaltar's hand from his wrist with one swipe of his sword.

The guards were upon him almost at once, but he made short work of them. It was only Sir Not who was able to end the blood bath and apprehend Semaj Neb. Sir Not argued in Neb's defense that the king had cheated him in his dealings. This argument was able to offset a sentence of death, but only to be replaced with a life sentence on the prison island of Kadjid. In Semaj's mind, and in the minds of many, this was as good as execution.

While in Kadjid, Semaj met Dolak Sanum, and together they escaped the inescapable, swimming accross a lake so large that land could not be seen in either direction from the center.

From the moment of their escape, Sanum and Neb kept in contact and worked together whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Neb spoke rarely, a silent instrument of death. Parents told stories of him to their children to make good little boys and girl out of them. He became the monster under the beds of many kids.

But when Sanum told him of Delta Sigante's summoning, he reacted at once, potentially coming to the rescue of the land.
