Assault of the Sorcerer Kings

The Siblings

At an early age, the Darkhorne brothers and sister were left to fend for themselves on the dangerous streets of a city known as Qualint.

Their father had been a mercenary who came home now and then with a sack of gold and a healthy appetite for the pleasures of his wife. The man would be gone on missions for weeks and months at a time, so the boys were in no way strangers to his absence. But after a three year hiatus, all of them gave up on ever seeing the man again.

Their mother was full of grief and turned to the comforts of the opium dens, leaving the children to fend for themselves.

By the time Raven had passed his thirteenth summer, his older brother Cain had enlisted with the city guard. While Cain trained to be a powerful warrior, Raven began training on his own.

Cain didn't last long in the guard, but was able to provide food for his siblings for close to two months. Raven brought in an income of his own, and no one bothered questioning where it came from. Their sister, Jalil left them for a convent at the age of fifteen.

Cain later learned that Raven had become a skilled pick pocket and lock smith. Rather than berate his brother for walking the dark path, Cain embraced it. After all, Raven was still able to provide food for them.

With his work in the Qualint guard, Cain was able to provide Raven with a loose patrol schedule and also managed to find work as a hired arm. Like his father, Cain had become a mercenary.

Years passed before Jalil returned to them. Their sister had become rather estranged and quiet, and their time with her was often filled with uncomfortable silence. Something had changed about her, of that they were certain. She seemed far more confident and self controlled.

Cain was the oldest of the three, and was thirty-three when a former client of his (Duchet) asked that he accompany him on a quest, promising a fortune in gold. Raven, the middle child, was thirty years of age when his brother asked him to accompany him. Their sister, Jalil, was twenty-five.
