When I wasn't looking...

I almost expect her to lie just to get out, then break her promise. But once again she does something I don't expect.

"No, I don't make promises I can't keep."

"Wha?" I say dumbly. Amanda slaps me across the face, followed by a swift kick to the shin. "Ow!" I cry out.

"Sorry," she said slowly, as if that word was unfimiliar to her. "That was the only way to get you let go of me." She walks away slowly this time, assuming (and rightly so) that I don't dare follow her again any time soon.

After my pain subsides somewhat, I rush to my own work room. I'm so eager to see Sara, who's as different from Amanda as night and day.
