When I wasn't looking...

I catch up to her just as she reaches the front door. She lets the door close behind her and quickens her pace as she walks down the hallway.

"Wait!" I shout. I quickly run after her and grab her by the wrist. "I want to talk to you!"

Amanda turns around, anger flashing in her eyes. "Well, obviously I don't want to talk to you. Or are you so thick that you couldn't take a hint?"

"Ummm.." I was so shocked by her crude response, I couldn't think of a suitable reply. What was wrong with her?? Did she get such a kick out of making a fool out of me?

People walked past us giggling, and I realized I was still holding onto her.

"Now, let go of me" she says, venomously.
