Time Traveller

You beckon the clerk close, and he warily leans in to listen.
"Look," You say, "I'm not from around here. There's a group of outlaws outside who forced me to work with them. I'm supposed to hold up this bank and then come out with the money."

The clerk looks alarmed. "A whole band of 'em? Forced you, yer say?" He moves to the window and peers out at the men standing innocently by their horses. His brow furrows.
"I see what you mean." He heads for a phone, "I tell you what, I'm gonna call th' sheriff from in here, tell him what he's up against. Since you were so helpful, I'm gonna pretend you was never here, alright?"

He leads you to a hatch in the floor, unlocks it and heaves it open.
"An escape hatch," He says, "Comes out by th' liquor store. Should get you far enough away!"

You clamber down into stuffy darkness, discovering that the tunnel is about knee deep with stagnant water. The clerk pauses while he is closing the hatch.
"Oh, an' by the way?"

You look up. "Yes?"

"Ah'm giving your description to th' sheriff. You come near this town again, you'll regret it, y'hear?"

You nod quickly and he closes the hatch with a heavy thud. By feeling around, you can navigate your way along this dark passage.
