Yesterday
You go into the museum, wondering whether it would be at all interesting and two good things happen. The first is that you find a leaflet in English about what there is to do in Nimes (and there is plenty). The second is when you ask how much the entrance fee is, you are told that it is free on the first Sunday in every month, which is today. It would be rude not to go into the museum after this.
There isn't very much that is diverting. There is one ancient wardrobe that you like. Its main panels are carved with the beginning scenes from Genesis; the creation, Adam and Eve, the expulsion from the garden of Eden and Cain and Abel. The creation is unusual, in that it shows God as a young man (not a beard in sight) blowing upwards into the clouds. Around the main panels are fantastical creatures - mermaids and sea monsters - that contrast with the Bible Stories.
The other point of note is a room devoted to denim. Nothing hugely exciting, except that Nimes is where denim first began: de Nimes - denim. There, your interesting fact of the day.
