Hall of Infinite Doors
Due to their nervousness, the date was not as successful as the first one and it was an entire week before Miss Hardwood was able to gather the courage to call him. They arranged for a third date at an amusement park during one of her breaks, and he canceled a meeting just so he could attend it. This date ended in a sharing of kisses after they spent the entire day riding thrill rides together and laughing and screaming. Their relationship lasted even longer than expected as she was in college and he had to do business in Europe for a month. When he came back she was too busy to court him because finals were just around the corner and he started another branch of his business in another state.
After finals passed, and she graduated, SUMA CUM LAUDE, they hooked up again and started to live with another. It was only a matter of time before they made matrimonial ties. They then had a child, one child who was named Johnathan Xavier Smith, with a middle name more uncommonly seen than James, and this child would live a life that ended with humor and pain beyond any experience any other soul had ever witnessed.
John grew up in a rich household, but lived in a moderate neighborhood. His father had ceased obsessing over money and had dedicated himself to his wife instead. John was only a love child and therefore was mostly ignored. He felt he was superior to his parents anyway, he saw the world as it was, not a lovers eyes like they did. His only way of punishing his parents was to get bad grades, and that was exactly what he did. They stopped caring after 9th grade when he almost failed entirely. He was a very smart kid, but extremely curious and he was against being told what to do or when to do it. Therefore he never did any homework, and didn't study for tests. He was able to pass tests due to his intelligence, but passed classes with only 80's and 70's. In 11th grade, he even failed a Math course because his homework average was so low. He knew the education system was unstable and not effective, but was surprised to find that no colleges would accept him. Any colleges that accepted him expected huge sums of money that his parents did not want to pay.
One of John's friends offered him a job in his father's restaurant business, but after John was late for his fifth time in 2 weeks, he was fired with no remorse. He ended up going to a community college in an attempt to prove he was capable of doing the work normal colleges required. It took one quarter of the semester before he dropped out and found a cheap place to live behind an apartment. The landlord paid John by allowing him to use the space for picking up the garbage in the park next to the apartment building, which made the area nicer for the other residents. After two years of this, the manager retired, and the new manager, a bitter old woman, removed him from his home and used the area for a construction site, claiming John made the area less desirable than the garbage had.
