Hall of Infinite Doors
Your friend says the the joke is called the "Blue Monkey Epic" and goes somewhat like the following...
Once there was a man who went by the name of Henry James Smith. He disliked his middle name because he considered himself a very creative man and considered James to be a very uncreative middle name. He deemed himself creative because he had started his very own law firm that dedicated itself to making money and nothing else. Wherever there was money to be made, Henry could be found. He is often spotted picking up small sums of money off the ground. If a toddler on a playground dropped a nickel, Henry would race the toddler to the treasure to claim his prize and snatch it up before the toddler was able to. His job was not the only thing he excelled in. He also has a keen eye on the stock market and was able to accurately predict most occurances upon it.
This way of living continued until he one day met up with the beautiful Miss Hardwood. Miss Hardwood was in college for her PHD, or Pharmesutical Doctorate, at the time and their meeting happened by chance. He had his hands deep in the college's financial happenings, and she was called to the very same office as he for a meeting. As he was exiting the office, a wad of bills bulging in his wallet, he turned and smashed directly into her, knocking her to the ground. Noticing the gentle curves of her body and delicate expression on her face, he lent her a hand to help her from the ground. She accepted, and instead of going about his business, he walked her to the exit of the college and asked her on a date. It so happened that he Friday he asked her to come with him, she was free, and her roommates were gone for, so she accepted, thinking it couldn't hurt. She realized then she was going to be late for her meeting, and ran off to it without even glancing back in his direction.
For the date they went to a local roller-skating rink whose business dated back at least fifty successful years. Instead of roller-skating, however, they sat in one of the booths and listened to the music together and talked. After the date, he found himself thinking of her instead of money, and even walked past a few cents on the ground and did not bother to pick the coins up and place them in his stash. He thought about the intelligence that radiated from her when she spoke and all the fun things she had said. She, also, found it hard to work. Normally she was a study-bug, but after the date, she could only think about Henry and his money-making tactics. She thought also of his acute humor. They scheduled a second date, both as nervous as the other, and prepared overly-much for their date.
