Lost in a Good Book- A Child's Tale

The library didn't shine so brightly as they pulled up for day number four. Rebecca felt as if the place had been tarnished. She walked slowly to the building, and it wasn't excitement that kept her from waving to her mother. It was that she now associated her mother with the unpleasantness of yesterday.

Marcus hadn't gone with them when they left the house. She didn't know where he had gone, but from the tear stains on Edwards cheeks she thought perhaps he had actually moved in with their father. Mother didn't yell at Edward to watch her, either. She didn't say a word. No one had spoken at all for the entire ride to the library.

Rebecca made a decision today she would not come back from her book. Today she would stay inside the book, and wander away from the story itself. She'd get lost like Alice in that Disney movie with the rabbit hole. She looked through the glass doors of the library, and waved to the car of her retreating mother.

Edward had already moved off to the computers, she waved at him as well before mounting the stairs and venturing off to the children's room.
