The House On The Corner
You take off for those stairs and realize that the woman must be gone. What could have happened to her? You would look behind you, but the silence is enough to tell you that she must be gone, though you imagine her over your shoulder and it causes you to move more quickly. There seems to be a light at the foot of the stairs and you realize that you are definately in the basement now. You see the dim light filtering through the low windows along the cellar wall, and you can smell the dampness of the rotted earth. You hear some movement, but can't make out what it may be. You can see the basement doors up ahead and they seem to be open. You can try for the doors or you can just stay down and see what is going on.
