The knights Lady

The women take up their sewing kits and run down to the hall. A group of men come in carrying another man on a makeshift litter. Place him on a carpet in front of the hearth. "Get this fire started", calls out The Baroness. Christine gets a good look at the man's bloody face and passes out on the floor. "Mother Beatrice, you take care of Christine, Alinore Get over here and help me clean up this wound."

Alinore is shocked by how much blood there is, but does as her mother says. She kneels down and is shocked anew. It is Guy who is injured on the floor in front of her. Lady Ann barks orders for clean linen and boiling water. The Baroness encourages Alinore to inspect the wound with her. "It looks like a good knock on the head and the skin split on his forehead. There isn't too much swelling, but there is some, so it probably isn't life threatening." Alinore relaxed at her mother's diagnosis. "Robert, What happened?" Asked the Baroness.

"He was helping us free up the mill stone, which was jammed and when it gave way, the wheel struck him in the head." Robert was very cool in crises situations. "He was knocked out right away, but he wakes up every few minutes"

Finally some Clean bandages came, and the Baroness cleaned the wound. The wound itself was not very big, but it bled a lot as head wounds usually do. Just as she finished Sir guy came to consciousness again. "Alinore" Ordered Lady Ann "Talk to him, make sure he stays awake until we finish, if he goes back to ` he may never wake up. Ask him questions"

Alinore's eyes were wide with fear, but she did as she was told. "Sir Guy, stay with me now." He looked around like he couldn't focus, but when he saw Alinore a crooked grin lifted one side of his face.

"I must have died and gone to heaven, There are angels all around me!" he reached out his hand to Alinore, but his eyes began close again.

"Sir Guy, GUY. Don't go to sleep. You have to stay awake." His eyes flickered, but then he looked at her again. "What is your horses name?" She held his hand and asked him all kinds of silly questions, but he stayed awake.

Eventually they moved him to his room. And the ladies took turns sitting with him. Alinore brought him his dinner around sunset. "Mother told me that you are not allowed to sleep at all until midnight. So it looks like you will have to sit up and talk with me!" Alinore placed the tray on the table next to the bed and smiled down at Guy. He looked so helpless with a bandage around his head. She sat down on the chair next to the bed and uncovered his dinner.

Guy was nauseas, and not at all hungry. Grumpily he said, "there is no way I am eating anything, you can take that right back to the kitchen."
