After the two of you eat you volunteer to take first watch, the sun having set during your feast.

Horris seems to consider the offer for a moment before responding. "Very well," He replies. "Keep in mind that I sleep with my gun in hand."

You nod in reply to this, trying to hide your smile. Even if you were to try and kill him in his sleep, he would never have time to load his musket and fire upon you.

He lays down not far from the fire as a slight breeze drifts through camp. The fire cracks as the remains of the hog drip grease on the hot coals.

The night is silent for the most part, only an occasional creature of night passing by or flying overhead disturbing the night insects' concerto.

After a few hours your head starts to nod and it becomes a real struggle to keep your eyes open. Youu decide that it would be wisest if you get up and walk around. The moment you stand up, however, you notice a shadow of a form out of the corner of your eye duck down behind a bush just off the path.
