Brains!

All around is dark. Thick dark.

Where am I?

There is no light, and there is something else. It has weight. It is hard to move.

It holds me down, but I can't feel it.

You push to move your arm, but you don't feel the muscles strain. Something shifts around it. The weight shifts. The thick darkness gives way to your movement, but slowly.

What is that?

Suddenly there is light. Something far away. Many of them, small and distant. The thick darkness is shifting below you now. You are crawling out of it.

Everything still seems dark and blurry. There are points of light and dark shapes around you, but nothing clear.

Something not quite dark sits in front of you as you crawl out of the thick darkness below you. You reach out for it and it doesn't move when you touch it. It seems solid. It seems hard. But still, you don't feel it.

What is this?

Slowly, you manage to rise to your feet unsteadily. You are taller than this hard solid thing next to you. The thick dark below you seems to be the ground you now stand on. The distant points of light seem to mostly be above you, in the sky, but others float off in the distance in several directions. They seem to be still and in groupings.

You can't seem to feel anything around you, but deep inside you feel something. Something you can't place. It seems to be trying to tell you something.

What is it?

You notice there is movement around you. Forms shifting. Coming up from the ground. They mean nothing to you. They are useless. They can't help satisfy this need. This calling. They are like you. They must have this something inside them too.

What are we?

You can't stay here any longer. You have to move. You have to go. You have find something to stop this feeling. To satisfy it. Something in the distance can do this. Something at the lights. Something in the dark between them. Somewhere out there.

You just know you have to find it.
