The demon scam
You look at her with desperation in your eyes, knowing she might very well be your only chance of surviving in this place.
"Please, Naria..! I really need your help, or my sister and I will surely die here!"
Naria narrows her feline eyes at you, studying you grimly. Then, she finally gives a nod. "Alright then, I will help you for as long as I can. But I'm not swearing you my loyalty, so don't expect me to protect you against my own kind!"
You smile gratefully. "Thank you so much! We have no time to lose, let's move on."
You start heading back to where you left Merle, and she is still hiding behind the rock. When you come back with Naria, she lifts her head to look at you both.
"Naria, this is my sister Merle," you say. "Merle, meet Naria."
Naria gives a grin and waves a clawed hand to Merle. "Hi there..!"
Merle says nothing, but scurries over to you to take your hand, watching the cat demon with obvious curiosity.
You turn to Naria and ask, "So... do you know of a way out of this realm or what?"
Naria frowns at your question. "A portal to the mortal world... It is not that easy, I am afraid. Not everyone has the gift to open up portals between realms."
"I assume you can't?" you ask, and she shakes her head. "No... I know only one who can, but that won't be easy."
"Please tell me," you say.
"Well..." Naria starts, "there is a town not too far away from here. The oracle there can open portals, but I don't know how on earth we are going to fool HIM... I'm pretty sure you two won't pass as demons to him."
You think that over for a moment. "But it's our only chance, right? Let's do it."
Naria smiles. "I like your attitude."
You let Naria lead the way and soon enough you come across a town with a tall white tower in the center.
