Still holding Merle in your arms, you turn to Naria. "Do you happen to know of a way out this realm?"
The cat-demon blinks, looking surprised. "Huh? Why do you want to know?"
Before you have the time to say anything, Merle, who's been playing with her blue rocks, looks up at you. "I know how to get back, it's easy!"
Both you and Naria blink at the little girl. "...!?"
Merle nods and stands up. "I'll show you." She walks over to one of the rock formations and touches it. Instantly, it starts to shimmer with the same glow you saw back in the forest. She puts her hand through it and turns to you. "See?"
You gape, totally stunned. What the..!? It was HER who openened up the portal here? You don't say what you're thinking out loud though, to not ruin a perfectly good scam.
Merle smiles. "Neat huh?"
You're too shocked to allow this to sink in just now, but you will make sure to talk to the village elders about this when you get back...
Naria looks confused, and she looks from Merle to you and back at Merla again. "What is going on here..?"
You hurry to get over and take a hold of Merle's hand, faking a grin at Naria. "We're going to take a trip to the human realm. Thanks for all your help and take care!"
Naria blinks and waves at you, looking quite perplexed. "Ehh goodbye. See you sometime!"
Before anything bad can happen, you step through the portal. The last thing you see of the demon realm, is Naria's crestfallen expression, and then you slip away to your own realm...
