You take a look around, and then finally decide that there's no point in trying to find the doctor. You don't even know if he'll be around, after all. He could have been killed.

You immediately turn round, and start running back in the direction of the clearing where your father was. Above you, lightning crackles, and you can hear the roar of thunder behind you. Rain begins pattering down on your head, and it's not long before you're soaked to the skin. Your hair is plastered to your scalp, and you're shivering, but you push that discomfort to the back of your mind.
By the time you get to the clearing, the ground has turned to soggy mud, which sticks to your feet. As you pull your legs up, it makes a sucking sound, and your kimono is getting splattered with mud.
Your father is lying on the ground under one of the mighty trees. Even you can see that he's not breathing - the wound in his chest is severe. However, you refuse to believe the evidence in front of your eyes, and fall to your knees beside your father, not caring about the mud. "Daddy..." you plead.
Your father's body remains still and cold, despite your tears and entreaties. You sit like that for a long time. The storm going on around you is an echo of your feelings inside.
Finally, you hear someone else approaching. You look up to see a large man, more muscular than fat. He watches you with obvious sympathy in his eyes. "You are Asahi, correct?" he questions. "Please come with me."
