He's a crazy old bastard. There's no reason to waste your time listening to whatever far fetched line of bullshit the wacky son of a bitch tries to hand you.

You turn around and head back to the saloon. "Back so soon?" The barkeep says to you as he pours you a whiskey. You nod and thank him for the drink, sliding a gold coin his way.

You take a sip fro the whiskey as the doors swing open behind you. Heavy footsteps make their way up to the bar. You pay them no attention until you feel a heavy hand on your shoulder. "I figured I'd find your pathetic self here." The voice says. It is a gruff voice that sounds like it comes from deep within the speakers throat.

"Good," You say to him, "then you didn't have to bother looking for long."

Gus sits down beside you at the bar and orders a whiskey for himself as he pulls a long cigar out from his jacket. "You are a worthless piece of shit, you know that?" He asks you.

You nod back. "I am aware." You tell him.

He laughs a little at this. "You dumb son of a bitch." He says after he asks the bar tender for a set of matches. The bar keep comes back and Gus lights his cigar while you sip at the whiskey and wonder if Gus has any plans for your next move.

"Ya coulda got some supplies for tomorrow." He tells you once he gets a plume of smoke worked up with the cigar.

"Coulda." You reply. "But I reckon they'll be open tomorra too."

He laughs again. "You are one lazy bastard." He says, laughing a bit more.

The doors open and you hear Annie before she even starts to walk in. "There you are! I should have figured as much." She takes the other stool beside you and orders a whiskey from the barkeep. "You are a lazy, foolish asshole." She says matter-of-factly.

Camaraderie, you think to yourself with a mock sigh of contentment.

"So what's our next move?" You ask them under your breath.

"Ain't no money in this town." Annie says.

"That's for damn sure." Says Gus. "This is the most piss poor mining town I've ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised to see it turn to a ghost town in the next couple'a years."

"All I can figure is the wagon trail." Annie says. "We should be able to stake it out and wait for a decent wagon to come through."

"But what the hell is gonna come through this town?" Gus says in a growl.

"Someone's gotta come through. Kallow may be a poor town, but it's right on the damn road to Soderton, Talsman, and Bridgeport." Annie points out. "Important people still pass through here."

Gus shakes his head. "I say we need to move on. Get away from here and the Vigilantes and see what we can get from the railway towns. That's where the money is."

"Horse shit." Annie retorts.

"What do you think, pecker-head?" Gus asks you. Annie looks your way as well. Both hoping that you will end the debate and side with them.
