No sooner have you exited the room when a couple of big mercenaries come up the stairs alerted by the noise. They don't say anything they just see you as another thief that needs to be destroyed. Fight them at the same time.

Naturally you can see this is going to be a difficult fight! If you happen to have a jar of ball bearings you may dump them on the floor. This will decrease both of the Merc's SKILL by 2 and you may fight them one at a time. (This represents one trying to regain their balance while the other struggles to attack you)
In any case you may attempt to escape back through the window you came in at any time during the fight in which case they both get one more chance to hit you before you leave.
