Legend
Ludmilla suddenly appears from nowhere.
"Wha " Where'd you come from?" you ask in bewilderment.
"Nevermind. I was watching though well you're not attacking me, so I see you're keeping your word on our alliance. I see I was wise to choose you."
"You don't trust me?!"
"Of course not! You can't say you entirely trust me either can you?"
"Of course not."
"Good, then this won't come as a surprise. You need to go and go right now."
"What?! But "
"But what? You thought you were going to become ruler and bed me every night on top of all of it? Hah! You can't be that naïve! You're not of royal blood, and besides with my father dead, I'M next in line and he can't hold me back any longer from taking what is rightfully mine."
"Dammit! I knew you were using me!" You say.
"When you put it like that you make it sound like a bad thing oh don't be like that! You know you didn't come out of this without anything, I allowed you to have your way with me a few times."
"Hmm, and that's supposed to make up for power and wealth?"
"I'd say having me MORE than makes up for it."
"You know I could kill you too "
"Ha ha! Yes you very well could, but I know you. Your feelings for me are a little too strong for you to take up arms against me. And even if they weren't you'd find me a much harder opponent than my father, and besides what would you gain even if you did somehow manage to kill me and that's assuming you managed to even convince the Palace guards of believing the entire sorted story? You really think the rest of the aristocracy would support you? You're a commoner, like I said. You're not a noble. They'd constantly hire assassins to try to kill you and install one of their houses in power. And what will you do then? Kill all of them too? It's not that simple. The world of subtlety, court intrigue and politics can't be solved with brute force. My father AND my brother are proof of that. No, you aren't cut out for this life of politics. Maybe one day, but not today. And if the day ever does come that you manage to carve out a kingdom of your own, perhaps THEN we could marry as equals. Because despite all my treachery, I won't forget what you did for me. Now go. Your services are no longer required."
Ludmilla gives you a long kiss goodbye and all you can do is stand there and take it. You take your leave of the Palace and Holgard as quickly as possible. You realize Ludmilla probably gave you enough time to get away before she told everyone how you assassinated her father. How "sweet" of her. As you walk in the wilderness from where you began, you still can't believe you allowed her to manipulate you like that. Agh! You're really angry at yourself. That is until you hear the sounds of someone running behind you, where upon you turn around and draw your weapon for combat. It turns out to be a young messenger boy.
"Whoa! Hold on! I'm not looking for a fight! I was just sent to give you this message! It's from Baroness Varsakken. Here." He says and runs off. You take it eagerly open it.
Hopefully this letter finds you; I just want to let you know that you are not being hunted for the murder of my father. That's a secret between just you and me. I made up a story of how an unknown assassin killed my father and how you vowed to hunt him down and that's why you left in a hurry. You will always be welcome in Holgard and do not worry, all the gold and items you left in your room at the Palace will still be there if you should ever return.
Ludmilla
Well that makes you relieved to know you aren't a wanted criminal, makes life a little easier if you ever return to Holgard.
