The Black Citadel

Most of the scrolls, when you unroll them contain information about the operations and workings of the Black Citadel. They're not much use and seem of non-importance because they contain a lot of numbers and figures and they don't reveal any hard facts and information that you can read into.

There is one scroll however, that gives some meaningful knowledge about portals:

Portals are used for the teleportation of subjects and can only be accessed by the dark lord and the dark ones. Each side of a portal contains different inscriptions that allow those mages, by enchanting one of the four inscriptions, to activate the inscription and side to thus move to the desired linking portal the inscription specifies. There are five main portals. Three are located within the Holy Citadel and two others lie in Darkwood. One portal in the citadel requires a special enchantment to be accessed that's not inscribed on any of the other four portals. Another special enchantment unlocks and activates all four inscriptions and sides simultaneously. Each side and resulting linking portal will remain open for a few seconds before moving to the next one and so on. A dark mage need only step onto the portal at the correct time to move the desired location. Portals, once first opened by a dark mage, can be used by any manner of subject.

Next to the scrolls is a large box with silver lettering imprinted on the lid in a script you cannot discern. If you have a key you could open it to uncover what is contained inside. Do you have a small silver key?
