It's better to avoid the risk and live than take the risk and die. You untie the rope which holds Betty to the rock and climb up on her back. You take one last look in the direction of the approaching horses and kick your heals into your horse's side; riding away at a full gallop.

You ride for a few hours into the night, not stopping for anything. When you stop, your horse is breathing heavy and you exhausted from hanging on. The hour is late.

You clamber down off of Betty's back and give her some water. You give yourself some too. Then you lay on the ground and close your eyes, listening to the night sounds of the desert, the beating of your heart, and the steady breathing of your horse until you fall into the world of dreams.

How many hours have passed? You're not sure. But you soon wake up and see four men standing around you, looking down on you. One of them smiles sickly.

"We've been looking for you." Says the smiling man in a thick Mexican-English drawl. His grin spreads as your eyes widen. His mustache is well groomed and he is freshly shaven. At first glance you might have mistaken him for a gentleman, until you see the evil gleam in his eyes. He looks to two of his companions and speaks. "Pick this shit-head up." He says.

Two of the men reach down and stand you up. The "gentleman" stands before you, still smiling. "We're taking you to Mr. Valdez. He'll want to see you, I'm sure." He then looks at one of the men holding you. "Tie him up." He orders.

The man ordered to tie you up lets go of your arm to retrieve the rope while the other man grabs both your arms. In this moment you think you may be able to break free and run. One man holds your arms, while another is getting a rope some ten feet away. The leader is several yards ahead of you talking to one of his men, both of thier backs are to you.

Do you want to risk it?
