The Third Eye

You walk up to a couple of middle-aged women and introduce yourself. You offer to tell them thier future for ten bucks apiece and they agree. Telling a convincing future is easy for you, you read what they are thinking and hoping will happen and say it out loud. You drop a couple of names and places that they are familiar with and they pay you ten bucks apiece, leaving as satisfied customers.

You repeat this method with several people until you have acquired a little over one hundred dollars. You almost decide to do this for a living, seeing as how you made this money in under three hours. Maybe you'll try it out every once in a while when wealthy victims are not available.

You have enough money for The Crowded House tonight, and you head for home to do the three S's. Shit, shower, and shave. You enter the apartment building and make your way down the hall. Someone is standing in front of your door. It's the manager woman, all dressed up in sweat clothes and curlers. She wants the rent money. You try to tell her that you're working on getting the money but she won't hear it.

"It's almost two weeks late!" She informs you. "If you had a job, you might be able to make rent every once in a while!"

"Look," You say trying to come up with something that will get you out of this. Looking into her eyes though, all you can find is a resolute woman. She is determined not to let you talk her out of evicting you like you've managed to do so many times before. "I'll have the money by Friday." You tell her.

"You'd better," She says, "Or I want you out of here by Sunday." With that she storms off.

You let yourself into your apartment and count the money you've earned today. $110. Rent is $600. Today is Tuesday. You have Wednesday and thursday to get the rest of the rent money.

But then you remember Becky. Aren't you going to The Crowded House tonight with her? Shit. That $110 could make it easier to scrape together a rent check, but you realy want to see her again. You only have four hours before you're supposed to go to the bar.

What are you doing with the money?
