What Lies Above
"Okay, come along," he says, with a hint of disappointment in his voice.
The man leads you down corridor after corridor. Eventually, you're led into a large room and made to join a group of people that all have a mixture of confusion and sadness on their faces. Some of them even look like they've been beaten.
Soon, a tall man wearing a cloak walks in from the far side of the room. You figure everyone must have to dress warmly up here; personally you're freezing. You don't have time to notice much else about your surroundings, because the tall man begins to speak:
"Hello, all of you. I am General of the Winged Guard Cormac. You may have seen some of my men on their mounts when they took you. I do hope they were gentle. Now, you all are here for a reason. You're all going to learn how to be servants. You will work at one meal. If you do well, you will taken back to the surface the same way you came up here. If you don't do well, you'll be returned to the surface by a faster, more efficient method. For those of you who don't understand innuendo, I just said that if you do poorly you'll be thrown to your deaths. So as you see, no matter what happens, you'll go home soon! That aside, you'll all be trained by Lord of the Palace Otis. Treat him as you would someone who could have you killed on a whim."
With that, Cormac turned and left the room.
The man who brought you here tells all of you that training will begin tomorrow, and he advises you all to get some sleep.
