Final Quest

Obeying your instincts, you slowly reach into your pocket, and take out the flute from the trees. You look at the statue for a moment, then raise the flute to your lips, and blow.

Surprisingly, a sweet note comes out, turning into a soft tune which somehow seems to sing of life continuing on even when it seems hard, and how there is always hope as long as someone good still exists.

Slowly, colour fills the statue. After a few moments, it is completely living, and it turns its head towards you, causing you to gasp.

The boy's eyes are the same as Torai's!

Startled, you take a step back, no longer playing the flute. "Wh... Who are you?!" you demand.

The boy stares at you for a long moment. Then, abruptly, he says, "The part of Torai which has been trapped here since you disappeared."

You stare at the statue in shock. "What?!"

"There is no time to explain," the boy responds. "The other part of me believes that you are a traitor. *This* part does not."

"I'm confused," you say slowly. "You're Torai?"

"A part of him," the boy answers. "The true caring part. We were separated. I would have been freed anyway with the breaking of the curse on this forest, but you have freed me now." Abruptly, he leans forward to lightly kiss you on your cheek. "Goodbye!" He then scampers off, leaving you feeling dazed and bewildered.
