Final Quest

A beam of bright light shoots from the tip of your weapon, and slams into Death's body. The guardian is lifted bodily into the air, and thrown against the far wall.

As the darkness is dispersed, you can see that you are standing in a long hallway. The walls are a soft yellow, so much different to the whiteness you have got used to.

The stone is lying in Death's place. With trembling fingers, you lift it up, and place it in your pouch. When you look up again, you realise that the entire castle has vanished all around you. You are now outside, and squint a bit, shading your eyes from the bright sunshine.

Rurona makes her way towards you, hand-in-hand with a young man. She smiles warmly at you. "Thank you," she says. "You have freed us from the curse. We can now move on."

You can make out vague shapes behind Rurona. The inhabitants of the castle, you guess.

"You aren't going to stay here?" Torai asks.

"We have been dead for a long time," the man tells him. "We do not wish to stay in this world any longer. Perhaps people will now be happy to start coming to this castle again."

"I am sorry for deceiving you," Rurona speaks up. "I truly believed that you would be able to break the curse."

"We were able to," you say. "Don't worry about it. I know you were just trying to find a way to break the curse."

Rurona smiles at you, but neither of the two ghosts say anything else. They seem to get further and further away from you. At the last possible instant, both call, "Goodbye," sounding very far away.

Where to now?
