The Bridge
You dial the number she's given you, your fingers are sore and shaky due to the icy wind and the anxiety you feel about this whole situation. The male voice that greets you on the phone is gruff and abrupt, almost immediately you wonder if you've done the right thing, but realize that right or wrong, your choice has been made.
"Who the hell is this?" You swallow hard before answering.
"Um, hi there. I have a woman here with me who says you're her brother." The woman's brother seems to perk up at what's been said, and allows you to explain everything that has happened in the past twenty minutes. Just before the conversation wraps up, the woman's brother asks one final question:
"So, you want me to come out there and pick her up?" How do you reply?
