Fate's Crossing

You wake up after a particularly disturbing sleep. This dream has been occurring night after night, and each time it becomes clearer. In it, you are battling a man that looks much like you: the same hair, the same eyes, the same face.

"Darazer!" Ortize calls your name. The man has been kind to you all your life. He taught you the noble ways of the merchant: always be curteous and respectful to all you meet, for they could some day be your customer. Always help those in need. If someone truly desires your wares, grant them a lowered price. These three morals have guided you through your life.

"Yes, Ortize?" you address you guardian.

"You have come a long way," Ortize gasps as though overcome with emotion. "Your training as a wizard has been more successful than I ever could have hoped. It is time for you to find your Calling."

Your legs shake and your arms are rubbery. Each mage needs to complete a grueling stage in their life, known as the Calling. The Calling involves constant meditation without food, water, nor human contact until the magician reaches the stage of Knowing. This could take days.

"Alright," your futile attempts to look confidant would be pitiful in anyone except Ortize's eyes. "I will find my Calling. I pray that when I see you again I will be a full mage."
