“Thank you, Danger.” Ammon said to me after a moment of silence at our table.
“For what?” I asked, confused.
“For clearing my name. You led that trial very well.”
I laughed awkwardly,” I didn’t really lead it. I barely said anything!”
“Exactly. Everyone was spiraling and saying things that didn’t matter or were arguments. You said things that got us back on track.” Ammon explained.
“And you figured out who it was!” Doro exclaimed,”And if that isn’t absolutely incredible, I don’t know what is!”
“Indeed, indeed!” Itami nodded, joining in with the praises. “I don’t even need to offer you any kind of-”
“Stop advertising stuff to us! We don’t want to buy it.” Ammon sniped at him.
Itami nodded slowly before saying,”Regardless, it was some fine detective work.”
“More than fine! Danger is going to be such a help later on!” Doro grinned, patting my shoulder.
That was an odd comment. But I shrugged. Doro is odd himself. The rest of the meal went smoothly, for everyone else at least. I burnt myself and almost set the table on fire. After finishing his meal, Doro had gone up to the map on the wall. Marble and Panna were already over there too. They were pointing at different areas, but I couldn’t tell what they were doing. Doro smiled at them and handed a hand shovel back to Marble. After a short conversation, he had found where his Ultimate Lab was located and Doro disappeared quickly after. Panna and Marble went out the door soon after.
“You know Itami,” Ammon started to say, looking over at the businessman,”I was wondering, why does your hat have some of it cut off?”
Itami traced his hand along the part of the hat that was missing a piece,”I bought it second hand. I found it interesting!”
“It looks cut.” I said,”It’s like a really clean cut.”
“I wish I knew the story, but alas, I do not.” Itami shrugged. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, fine patrons, I was invited to a ‘civil discussion’ with a potential business opportunity.”
“What?” Ammon asked.
Itami nodded over towards Kikimora and Aristotle, who had found a smaller table in the corner of the room. They were seated around it. “I believe Ryori will be joining us later.”
“That’s a strange business group.” Ammon observed. “A mortician, black market dealer, a chef, and a businessman”
“Sounds like the start to an awful joke.” I say.
Itami grinned widely,”Indeed! I’m absolutely enthralled to hear what they want to discuss.” He picked up his briefcase and pushed in his chair. “It was a real treat to meet you both. I’m excited to work together in the future!” He tipped his hat towards me and left.
