Kamp Kuma
“He didn’t tip his hat at me.” Ammon said, glancing over at me.
“Maybe because you keep telling him to shut up.” I responded.
Ammon shrugged,”So be it, he’s annoying.”
Glancing over at the door again, I saw Ronan hold the door open for Quincy. The two left together. I turned back to Ammon as he started to say,”Did you want to look around? I have enough knowledge of this place to know where everything is.”
“Oh, sure!” I said,”We should stop by our cabin first. I think it’d be best if I grabbed a backup first aid kit to carry around.”
“Works for me.” Ammon said, standing up. He stepped back to allow me to get up with ease and less of a risk of causing a problem. Ammon quickly scrawled a thank you note to Ryori on a napkin and left it on top of his plate for her to find later.
We left without a problem, thankfully. Ammon led the way back to our cabin, walking quickly. Wanting to catch up, I wasn’t watching my feet and I tripped over a tree root. I winced as pain flashed through my ankle. I recognized this pain. I didn’t break it, thankfully. I only twisted it. I should be fine after a few minutes and some Ibuprofen.
Ammon backed up a few steps to look down at me. “Are you okay?”
“Just twisted my ankle. I should be fine in a few minutes. Could you go grab my backup kit for me? It has Ibuprofen in it.” I asked, sitting up.
“No, I want to make sure you’re okay first.” Ammon knelt down next to me.
“Your shoe is untied.” I said, pointing at Ammon’s left shoe.
He glanced down,”Ah. So it is. It’s a wonder I didn’t trip like you did.” He pushed my pant leg up a little to get a better look at my ankle. It had swelled a small bit and was a little red. “Hm.” Ammon said. “Do you think you can walk?”
“Probably in a couple of minutes.” I said, poking my ankle to see if it would hurt. It did.
“I’ll stay with you.”
“Ammon, I’d really prefer if you got-”
“No, Danger. I am the Ultimate Guard. I cannot and will not leave your side. I promised to guard you.”
As sweet as that is, I would really just want Ibuprofen. But I get it, it’s his Ultimate after all. So we sat for a couple of minutes. Just us two. No one said anything, but I didn’t mind. I don’t think Ammon did either. He looked really tired anyways.
