Pencil Sharpener
“What caused the American revolution you say? Good thing you’re talking with a time traveler because many believe it started today. Many of the people you see here are drinking coffee because they don’t want anything to do with British tea”. You are confused “what does tea have to do with the American revolution” you ask. The old man explains “the English force Americans to buy tea from England, something the English make a lot of money from. The Americans don’t like paying the British, and they also don’t like being told what to do. So the Americans are saying no to British tea, and today… Today is the day of the Boston Tea Party. Today some Americans go to the English ships in the harbor, and they dump all of the tea into the ocean. That made the English very angry”.
You heard a lot of sound coming from outside the window. “That must be them heading down to the harbor right now” the old man said.
“Let me have a look at that sharpener” the old man commanded. You didn’t want to give it away. “No, I don’t want to lose it” you say while putting your hand to you pocket. “GIVE ME THE SHARPENER SO I CAN GET HOME!” the man yelled and pushed the table so that it fell on its side. “I LOST THE SHARPENER AND I HAVE BEEN STUCK HERE FOR YEARS!” you ran towards the door to open it and get away. The old man stepped over the table that had fallen “I HAVE WAITED FOR THE DAY WHEN A STUDENT WOULD COME TO SEE THE BOSTON TEA PARTY, SO THAT I CAN GET THE SHARPENER AND GET HOME TO MY OWN TIME!”.
You managed to get the door open, and you run towards a crowd of people in the distance. You looked over your shoulder and saw the old man running behind you. You ran as fast as you could and you eventually reached the crowd of people. You pushed you way through the crowd and saw that a lot of people were throwing boxes into the ocean. You looked behind you again and you could not see the old man. You decided that this was a good time to use your pencil sharpener and get out of here!
