Everything Went Dark

As quick as a flash, Jennan crammed the note into her mouth. She chewed the starch paper for a moment, struggling to get enough saliva to swallow it because of the dryness of the paper. Finally, she swallowed the note. As dry as the paper was, she had actually consumed it pretty quickly. The servant stared at her, extremely bewildered. Jennan shrugged. The servant gave her the "what the fuck are you doing" look until a guard glanced in their direction. The servant scurried back to work, occasionally shooting glares in Jennan's direction. Jennan, who had been ignoring the servant, stretched her arms and started to walk around. She needed to stretch her legs after being in that cramped room. After about ten more minutes outside, Jennan was escorted back to the prison room.
