Chapter 1 -- Scene 2
We open again on a full classroom and a teacher talking at the front of the class. Caitlin is sitting near the back of the room at a table. She’s playing with her pencil on the table as the teacher talks about one of the books they’re reading in class.
TEACHER: This book is a classic. Not only does it deal with current issues of its time, but it puts World War II in perspective . . . .
A boy with shaggy blond hair and a medium sized frame walks in. He scans the room for Caitlin before walking towards her table and sitting down.
JESSE: Ohh, look: it’s my coffee!
CAITLIN: Hey, Jess. Fresh from the famous Stonecreek bakery.
JESSE: So, what did I miss?
The screen freezes as a Character Rundown shows up, describing Jesse’s personality and quirks.
“JESSE

- is gay
- likes parties and people”
Jesse turns towards the front of the room, looking at the board and slideshow.
CAITLIN: Not much, she’s just talking about the book.
JESSE: Did you finish the homework from yesterday?
