The Island of Destiny

A few minutes pass...then an hour...then several hours. It's pretty awkward, considering Melinda hasn't said a word. Finally, eight men in black suits and sunglasses approach the dome from the west. After they surround the dome, an old man appears. You can't help but stare, as he appears to be very old. Older than a human could possibly be, you think. Also surprising is that he is only clad in a loincloth and carrying a long, wooden staff, which he holds both as a weapon, and a cane. As he gets closer, you get a glimpse of his eyes. Is he blind? It's possible.

As soon as the red light disappears, Melinda rushes up to the old man and anxiously asks, "Where is my father?" "He refused to leave his looking glass and compass.", the old man replied, in a surprisingly strong, deep voice. "Take us to him!", Melinda says. The old man turns his head in your direction. "I don't know if it is wise to take him with us." You sense that he is wary of you, but not scared. "He has to come with us", Melinda says, "My father has been waiting for him". Raising an eyebrow, the old man says suspiciously, "You believe he is 'the one?". Melinda ignores his question, choosing instead to reiterate that she wants to see her father immediately.

"Very well. Take them to the the Library", the old man orders the guards in suits. The eight large suited men begin to take positions around you. Suddenly, you realize this might be your last chance to get away. You could rush the old man, knock him down, and make a run for the jungle. But, these people, as strange as they are, seem to know more about this place than you, and might be your only means of getting home. It's a tough choice.
