The familiar clicking stopped, still ringing out in my mind even if I knew Rose came to a halt. She tapped the door with what I imagined was her pointer finger nail, peering into the room from the glass outside. Navaien's eyes followed her amused expression and she started tapping again, making me hurry up with inputing the unlocking code. It got annoying to hear 'click, click, click' every 0.8 seconds. To her, it was calming.

The door steamed and granted access to the woman in front, showing Rose at it's doorstep. The reason the door unlocked for me when I was outside of it but not for Rose using the same fingerprint method was easily explained: when the droids figure out that the subject is awake, outside unlocking is not permitted in case someone is coming to bust him out. The code is known only by us FO officers and that's why, usually, I wait inside with the prisoners until time comes for Rose to interrogate them, unlocking her door from inside. It was a good little scheme we had made up ourselves and it was very much useful in not having to disable the droid locks inside the room every time we wanted to enter.

I stepped aside and let Rose in, giving her a little nod and leaning against the wall as the door closed and locked us in again. I crossed my arms and watched her and the prisoner, feeling like with Rose's stubborness and his attitude, this would be a long session. I should've atleast brought a snack.

"Would you like some caf to wake up?" Rose mocked with a high-pitched tone, pulling out a pair of gloves from her coat pocket. Afterwards, she set the coat down on one of the chairs (not to get it dirty, she fancied the material) and gently slipped the gloves on one finger at a time, touching around her 'instruments' on the nearby table. Navaien struggled a little more in the binds, rolling up one shoulder and then the next. I finally noticed that he was stripped of his pilot jacket and left in a black, long sleeved shirt and all his weapons were stripped from his belts, left on the counter next to me. I turned my attention to them, running my hand gently over the surface of them with the tips of my fingers. Two blasters, smoke grenades, knives.. Who knew pilots were this equipped? When I turned my head back, Rose had her full attention to him, twirling a switchblade through her fingers.

She had also changed clothing, now in a white button-up and a pair of white, pressed pants with heels the width of my little finger. She didn't like dirtying her formal clothing, either. "You know why you're in here, Navaien?" She asks, sucking thickly on her teeth and making a satisfied expression noticeable for the pilot. She was in charge, and she liked it.

Navaien though, only smiled bitterly back, leaning his torso forward. "To watch you play around with that butterknife until you get a papercut?" The smile was wept immediately from Rose's face and I bit the inside of my cheek. What came next was a loud snap as Rose smacked him across the face backhanded, taking her job seriously now that she saw that Derny was taking this too easily. "Where's the Resistance Base? What were you taking back to them from Arkanis and where is it?" She bent down and brought the edge of the knife to his face, watching him still revel in the pain of the slap. I could feel it on my skin as well, the sting. Rose once accidentally slapped me thinking I was someone else and I had a hand mark on my cheek for the entire day. Still, Derny turned his head and stared at the tip of the perfectly sharp knife and up into Rose's burgundy eyes, a large grin plastering itself over his face.

I noticed that he had started bleeding again but this time, it was from his mouth. His teeth were covered in red spit. Rose looked back at me and let out a snort, shaking the knife in front of him. "He's gone mad, hasn't he? He's really lost his-"

I gasped as Navaien spit his pent up blood on Rose's face, covering her cheek in red liquid. She turned to him, wiping her cheek in disbelief, touching the liquid in her hand as if she had never seen blood before. "Jee 'sh not tedding uba, oog." He growled, eyes tense and brows furrowed. I could tell he was speaking Huttese, a language not many spoke. Rose sucked in her cheeks as she slapped him even harder than before, making him cough out blood this time. She straightened up from her crouch, muttering curses under her breath as she went for the larger, fileting knife, a little bit of spit dropping down her cheek.

"What'd he say?" I piped in, raising my brows in curiosity. Rose turned to me as she shook her head, waiting for the prisoner to straighten up again. "He thought he'd be making himself seem smart to talk to me in Huttese. Guess what, cheeskar nok-" She yelled the last part, taking three large steps to cross the room, grabbing him by his wavy hair and pulling his head to the side. Rose had an ability to find someone's pulse by just looking at their throat, and currently she had it pressed right in what I supposed was a beating artery. He widened his eyes greatly and I could notice sweat beads going down his forehead, making me gulp as if I'm the one in the interrogation chair. "Bargon wan che copa." She pressed the knife harder into his neck and I winced, watching him huff as he tried to relieve some pain desperately. On one side she was pulling his hair so hard she was pulling it out of it's roots and on the other he had a filleting knife jabbed against his pulse point. "You will sing to me every single detail if you want to see the outside world again."

Navaien took far more beatings that day. Those three hours were painful to watch by themselves. I would gulp and turn my head every time Rose slapped him, cut into his skin little by little and burned him with a lighter. She was getting desperate and had resolved to only speaking to him in Huttese now, a language she knew well enough other than Basic. I couldn't understand what they were saying and didn't really want to. Those words Rose said were familiar to me from whenever she was in a heated battle. Her hair was messy and getting in her eyes constantly, her gloves were removed and she was scratching parts of his skin painfully with her nails so now blood was stuck under them, her clothes were bloodied, sweaty and spit on. Every single time Rose asked him, he denied telling, making her even more angry.

At one point, as it seemed, he finally cracked. She was holding the lighter milimeters away from his right eyeball. I could see how she was shaking with anger and how Navaien was shaking with fear, trying not to blink but pull his head further away. Rose was a hair close to burning his iris when he screamed, pushing around the chair and kicking her hard in the thigh. Rose got pushed off and she stared athim, taking in deep breaths and taking breaks from looking at him to me. He was shaking horribly, looked so green I was positive he would vomit, until he spoke in a broken voice.

"I w-was taking..taking the prisoner to Leia Organa.." He croaked, coughing up a storm as I stared at Rose in amazement. She set down the lighter but picked up her switchblade again, carefully, but slowly, making her way towards him. "She said it was important..she's looking for something.." He continued, head bowed down in defeat. I hoped this was all and that Rose would stop, but I knew she wouldn't. Quietly, Rose pressed the knife under his chin and pushed it up for him to look at her, her breaths still caught in her throat. "And?"

"That's all I know.." He muttered to her. I wished he didn't say that.

She grabbed him by the throat and swung herself behind him, replacing her hand with the switchblade as she kept it to his skin. She looked at me over his shoulder and he was staring at me, desperately, with so much pleading that I hadn't seen even an ounce in before. "This is your call, Vestar. Kill the dog or let him rot in the dungeons?" She pressed the knife closer to his neck, making him wince.

"Ren's not the last Solo." Something almost whispered, making me snap out of whatever anxiety rushed trap I was in. I didn't know if it was just my imagination or if I heard Navaien say that, but I was positive I didn't see his lips move. I couldn't even recall how the scene looked like when I heard those few words in my ear.

"10 seconds, Ves, before I split his throat open!"
