Horror of Horrors!
Von runs at you as fast as his short legs can carry him. His arms are outstretched to grab you and Will.
You spot a black coffin resting on a wheeled platform just to your left. You could zoom past Von and over to the other side of the auditorium with the coffin.
"Hop on," you tell Will. "We're going for a ride!"
"Great idea!" He climbs up and grips one of the coffin handles. You get behind the platform and start shoving. You aim it straight at Von.
Von jumps out of the way. "You'll regret this," he shouts, shaking a fist at you.
Once the wheeled coffin starts moving, it picks up speed quickly. You jump back and hang on. The coffin platform rolls out onto the stage. A clapping sound startles you. The phantoms in the audience are applauding. They must think you and Will are part of the act. You shudder.
MagnifiCAT whirls around, trying to discover why the audience is clapping. Your coffin platform is moving at a fast clip. He leaps out of the way and you roll to the other side of the stage.
"We did it!" you shout.
You and Will slap high fives.
"Let's find another exit on this side," you declare.
"That makes sense," Will agrees. "The only thing is MagnifiCAT didn't really try to stop us just now. And he's not even chasing us. Don't you think that's weird?"
"We outsmarted him," you reply. "He knows we're too quick for him."
Will shakes his head. "Maybe he knows something we don't know."
You shake your head. Will is such a worrywart. "We just have to get that door and we're home free."
You hear a long, slow CRE-E-E-AAK!
The lid of the coffin slowly lifts and a bony hand rises from the deep wooden box. It reaches for your throat.
Will shrieks and tumbles off the coffin platform. Von charges over and grabs him.
You freeze in your spot, the bony fingers begin squeezing the life out of you. As the powerful skeleton drags you into the coffin, you can hear MagnifiCAT continuing his act onstage.
"Our assistants are unable to participate," he tells the audience. "They were too tired. But make no BONES about it. I have taken care of them. Now they will be able to REST IN PEACE."
