The Paradox Factor

"It's a little confusing.", Jill says to Bill while holding your hand.

"It goes like this. A person remembers the past but not the future. We can remove these blocks so that they can exist through their entire life in one instant. This will allow the person to change the past or future! Catch is, if they change anything that can cause a paradox. Nature naturally protects itself from this and the subject simply doesn't gain access to all of these memories."

"So, we use a neural screen to block the memories and use a hypnotic suggestion to get them to act while they are in the past or future."

"While they are there, they can place an object into a black box. We don't look while they do this, this cuts down on the paradoxes."

Bill nods in understanding. "So then, we'd just look into the black box and there would be a message from the past or future."

"Exactly.", you say.

"And we have a great name for the boxes, we got it from the lecture that we were in when we first met.", Jill says while smiling sweetly at you as you take a big drink of coffee she continues, "When they return, we erase all memory of what they have done and what they have known, eliminating the paradox entirely! Paradox factor of zero."
