The Weekend of a Competitive Dancer

When you forget your dance, your mind immediately races to what your dance teachers have always reminded you to do "No matter what circumstance happens, always keep dancing. Whether your shoe falls off or you forget the dance, just keep going. Never let something bad happen determine the outcome."

You know that you don't want to disappoint your teacher, so you improv the rest of the dance. Since the song lyrics are locked inside your brain, you do dance motions that express the words. Also, you add in some of your greatest skills to show the judges what you are capable of.

As you get off stage, you are feeling good about your performance. You know it is not your best effort, but you are proud of yourself for not stopping the dance. Now it is time to go back to the dressing room. All of your friends and teachers congratulate you, even though you know they are being fake. After you walk away from the parade of people, there is one person sitting on the ground, your supposed best friend. That is when you realize she said absolutely nothing to you about your solo. Then your mind begins to ponder the idea of her not even watching your solo. Your feelings begin to hurt, because you are realizing that she may not be your best friend. You want to leave because right now you don't want to see her face, but you also don't want to miss receiving your award for your solo.
