The sight of a large tentacle springing out of the water unnerves Nag, but she will not quit the task, for she needs the potion to get Fiona alone and eliminate her. Nag's love (*obsession) for Tallion is stronger than any beast!
Still, she should at least check to see its capabilities. She steps away from the pond- it evidently cannot see her there otherwise it would've grabbed her- and picks up a stone. She throws it over the pond. Mid way, around where the vine is, the tentacle shoots out and grabs the rock, pulling it under.
Nag figures that as long as she doesn't linger too long in that area, she should be able to get across unscathed.
