It's better to be safe than sorry, as the saying goes. Even if it means possibly losing a beloved memento.
Nag removes the axe from her back. She steps over to the edge of the pond, and begins to spin. She lets go of the axe, and it soars above the pond.
Then, a giant purple tentacle shoots out of the pond and attempts to grab the axe. In an extremely lucky turn of events, however, the tentacle finds itself on the business end of the weapon, and the tip of the tentacle is sliced off.
The axe finishes its descent and lands on the other side, safe and sound.
